Ingredients

  • 2 large red onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1 cup gram flour (chickpea flour)
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • For the Mint & Garlic Raita:
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the sliced onions, chopped chillies, gram flour, cumin, coriander, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt.

  2. Gradually add water to make a thick batter. Mix well to ensure all the onions are coated.

  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan.

  4. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy.

  5. Remove the bhajis from the oil and drain on a paper towel.

  6. For the raita, combine the yogurt, chopped mint, minced garlic, and salt in a bowl. Mix well.

  7. Serve the bhajis hot with the mint and garlic raita.
