Ingredients

  • 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons of butter

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the sliced apples, water, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.

  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and the liquid has thickened, about 30 minutes.

  3. Remove from heat and stir in the butter until melted.

  4. Serve hot as is or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
