How To Make Tamarind Ginger Beef Recipe

A sweet and sour dish with tender, juicy beef and a tangy tamarind ginger sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, sliced thinly
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp tamarind paste
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add onions, garlic and ginger, cooking for 2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. Add sliced beef, salt and pepper, and sear until browned (around 3 minutes per side).

  3. In a small bowl, mix tamarind paste, soy sauce and honey with 1/4 cup of water.

  4. Pour sauce over beef and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 10 minutes.

  5. Add sliced red bell pepper and continue to simmer for another 5-7 minutes, until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened.

  6. Garnish with cilantro and serve hot with rice.
