How To Make Candy Apples
Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 medium-sized apples
- 2 cups of sugar
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 teaspoon of red food coloring
- 4 wooden sticks
Instructions
-
Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Remove any stems and insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple.
-
In a saucepan, combine the sugar, water, and red food coloring. Stir well over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.
-
Increase the heat to high and bring the mixture to a boil. Continue to cook until the syrup reaches the hard crack stage, about 15 minutes. Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature (around 300°F).
-
Once the syrup reaches the desired temperature, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly.
-
Dip each apple into the syrup, carefully coating it completely. Allow any excess syrup to drip off before placing the apple on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
-
Let the candy-coated apples cool and harden completely before serving. Enjoy!
