Kimchi Hot Dog Recipe

How To Make Kimchi Hot Dog

Make your BBQs extra special with this kimchi hot dog dish! It comes with a spicy-tangy kimchi slaw to go with your classic hot dog.

For Kimchi Slaw:

  • 1cupkimchi,minced
  • 1medium carrot,grated
  • 1cupdaikon radish,grated
  • 4scallions,white and light green parts chopped
  • 2tbspfresh cilantro,chopped
  • ½tspsalt

For Spicy Gochujang Sauce:

  • ½cupmayonnaise
  • 4tbspgochujang Korean chili paste
  • ½lime,juiced

For Hot Dogs:

  • 8all-beef hot dogs
  • 8hot dog buns


Kimchi Slaw:

  1. Stir together the minced kimchi with the grated veggies, scallions, cilantro, and salt.  

  2. Let this sit for at least 10 minutes. Taste and add more salt, if needed.

Spicy Gochujang Sauce:

  1. Whisk together the mayonnaise with Gochujang chili paste and lime juice. Start with 3 tablespoons of the chili paste, then taste and add more for more spice, if desired.

Hor Dogs:

  1. Heat a gas or charcoal grill to medium heat, about 350 degrees F, and grill the hot dogs and the buns over direct heat.

  2. Grill the hot dogs for 4 to 5 minutes, turning once until they have nice grill marks. The buns need just 30 seconds to crisp up a bit.

  3. Top each hot dog with a generous amount of slaw and drizzle with the sauce. Serve and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

The slaw can be made for up to 1 day in advance. Once done, refrigerate it, covered, but it will start to break down if it will be made much earlier than that.
