How To Make Vegan BBQ Beans

Have a spoonful of these deliciously smoky and saucy vegan BBQ beans made with vegan-friendly ingredients and seasonings sauteed, then baked to perfection!

  • 1tbspvegan margarine,such as Earth Balance
  • 2cupspinto beans,canned, rinsed, drained
  • tbsponion,chopped
  • ¼cupsweet pickle relish
  • 2tbspdill pickle juice
  • 2tbspketchup
  • 1tbspmolasses
  • 1tbsptomato paste
  • 1tbspbrown sugar
  • ¼tsphot sauce,such as Tabasco
  • 1dashliquid smoke flavoring
  • ¼tspgarlic powder
  • ¼tspsalt-free seasoning blend
  • ¼tspdry mustard


  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

  2. Melt the vegan margarine in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion.

  3. Cook and stir for about 5 minutes until translucent. Mix together with the beans in a casserole dish.

  4. Stir the relish, pickle juice, ketchup, molasses, tomato paste, brown sugar, hot sauce, liquid smoke, garlic powder, salt seasoning, and mustard together in a bowl.

  5. Add to the bean mixture and mix to coat.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour until the sauce is thick and the casserole is heated through.
