Honey Chipotle BBQ Chicken Skewers Recipe

How To Make Honey Chipotle BBQ Chicken Skewers

These BBQ chicken skewers are charred with a smoky and a sweet and spicy barbecue sauce that is perfect for a weekend dinner with your family.

  • ¾cupapple juicedivided
  • 2chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
  • tsphoney
  • 1tspancho chili powder
  • 1KC Masterpiece® Sweet Honey BBQ Sauce Mix and Dry Rub
  • 2lbschicken breastsboneless, skinless, diced into 1-inch cubes
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • vegetable oilfor brushing grill


  1. For the sauce:

  2. To a food processor, add 1/4 cup apple juice and chipotle peppers. Pulse until peppers are pureed.

  3. Pour mixture into a small mixing bowl. Add the remaining 1/2 cup apple juice, honey, ancho chili powder, and BBQ Sauce Mix.

  4. Whisk until well blended, set aside.

  5. For the chicken:

  6. If using wooden skewer sticks, soak in water for at least 30 minutes.

  7. Preheat a grill over medium heat to about 375 degrees F.

  8. Thread chicken onto skewers until all of the chicken has been used up, folding chicken pieces as needed so they hold well onto the skewer.

  9. Season both sides of chicken with salt and pepper.

  10. Brush grill grates lightly with oil then place skewers on grill and grill for about 4 to 5 minutes per side until nearly cooked through, then brush both sides with half of the sauce and grill for about 1 to 2 minutes more per side until cooked through and outsides are nicely browned in spots. Brush with remaining sauce.

  11. Serve warm.
