How To Make Grilled Huli Huli Chicken

Enjoy juicy and smoky bites of this Huli Huli Chicken, a classic Hawaiian dish of grilled chicken coated in a luscious pineapple sauce, for a filling meal!

Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 20 minutes
Marinate Time: 3 hours
Total: 3 hours 30 minutes



  • 4lbschicken thighs,boneless skinless
  • 1cuppineapple juice,unsweetened
  • ½cupsoy sauce
  • ½cupbrown sugar
  • cupketchup
  • ¼cupchicken broth
  • 2tspfresh ginger root,grated
  • tspgarlic,minced
  • green onions,sliced, for garnish


  1. In a medium sized bowl, whisk together the pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, chicken broth, ginger and garlic. Reserve 1 cup of sauce for basting.

  2. Add the chicken thighs and sauce to a zip lock bag.

  3. Marinate at least 3 hours or overnight.

  4. Grill chicken, covered, over medium heat for 6 to 8 minutes on each side or until no longer pink. Baste occasionally with reserved marinade during the last 5 minutes.

  5. Garnish with green onions, serve, and enjoy!
