How To Make Strawberry Squares

These strawberry squares are easy, bite-sized treats made with soft vanilla cake, and topped with a tart strawberry filling.

  • ½cupunsalted butter,softened
  • cupsgranulated sugar
  • 4large eggs,at room temperature
  • 1tsppure vanilla extract
  • 2cupsall-purpose flour
  • ½cupstrawberry pie filling,canned
  • confectioner’s sugar,for dusting
  • baking spray


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray the baking pan in a 13×9-inch baking pan.

  2. In a large bowl, on the medium speed of an electric mixer, cream the butter with the granulated sugar for about 2 minutes until smooth.

  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla and flour, then mix thoroughly.

  4. Spread the dough evenly in the prepared pan. With a small, sharp knife, score the dough into 24 2-inch squares. Place 1 teaspoon of pie filling in the center of each scored square.

  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a cake tester inserted in the center of the pan comes out clean.

  6. Cool to room temperature, then sprinkle with confectioner’s sugar before cutting.

  7. Serve, and enjoy!
