How To Make Spiced Cranberries

These cranberries are cooked with spices and gloves for that extra touch of flavor.

  • 1 lb fresh cranberries
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 5 allspice, whole
  • 2 cinnamon sticks, 3 in.
  • 3 cups sugar


  1. Wash cranberries; drain and remove stems.

  2. Place cranberries into a 3 ½ quart saucepan.

  3. Add 1 ½ cup water.

  4. Tie spices in a small cheesecloth bag (or tie cheese cloth bundle with kitchen string); add
  5. to cranberries. Cook, covered, over medium heat; just until cranberries burst; about 10 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat; discard cheesecloth and spices.
  7. Stir in sugar and cook 5 more minutes on low
  8. Heat. Cool; refrigerate covered and serve cold. Makes 1 quart.
