- 1/4 cup almonds, chopped
- 1/4 cup pistachios, chopped
- 2 cups water
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
-
Rinse the chana dal well and soak it in water for 2-3 hours. Then, drain the water.

In a pressure cooker, add the soaked chana dal, water, and a pinch of salt. Cook for 3-4 whistles or until the dal is soft and cooked.
-
In a separate pan, heat ghee and add cloves, cardamom, and saffron strands. Cook for a minute until fragrant.

Add the cooked chana dal to the pan and mix well with the ghee and spices.
-
Cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring constantly.
-
Add sugar and continue cooking until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens.

Add chopped almonds and pistachios, reserving some for garnishing. Mix well.

Cook for another 5 minutes until the halva thickens further and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
-
Remove from heat and transfer the halva to a serving dish.
-
Garnish with remaining chopped nuts and saffron strands.
-
Serve warm or cold.
