Ingredients

  • 500g beef, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 green chilies, slit lengthwise
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add the chopped onions. Sauté until golden brown.

  2. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook until the raw smell disappears.

  3. Add the beef pieces and fry until they turn brown on all sides.

  4. Add the pureed tomatoes, green chilies, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well.

  5. Cover the pan and let the beef cook on low heat for about 1 hour or until tender. Stir occasionally.

  6. Once the beef is cooked and the gravy has thickened, garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

  7. Serve hot with naan or rice.
