How To Make Chicken Biryani Recipe

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 4 chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 2 tbsp biryani masala
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup mint leaves, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup fried onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak rice in cold water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  2. Heat ghee in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and sauté until translucent.

  3. Add ginger and garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

  4. Add chicken and sauté until browned.

  5. Add biryani masala, turmeric powder, and salt and mix well.

  6. Add yogurt and mix well. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  7. Add water and bring to a boil.

  8. Add drained rice and stir.

  9. Cover and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes.

  10. Turn off heat and let biryani sit covered for 10-15 minutes.

  11. Fluff rice with a fork and mix in chopped cilantro and mint leaves.

  12. Garnish with fried onions and serve hot.
