How To Make Tomato Pie

For a wonderfully filling and savory meal, try this tomato pie. Layers of herbs and fresh tomatoes create this amazing dish with a superb set of flavors.

  • 1pie crust,single
  • ¾cupmozzarella cheese,divided
  • ½cupcheddar cheese,divided
  • 3largetomatoes
  • 1tspsalt
  • ½tspgarlic powder
  • ½tsporegano
  • cupfresh basil leaves
  • ¼cupmayonnaise
  • 1cupgrape tomatoes,halved


  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

  2. Peel tomatoes and slice into thin slices.

  3. Lightly salt tomato slices and spread over a double layer of paper towels to dry.

  4. Poke pie crust with a fork. Sprinkle ¼ cup of mozzarella cheese on the bottom and bake for 10 minutes until lightly browned. Cool completely.

  5. Combine ¼ cup of cheddar cheese and ¼ cup mozzarella cheese in a small bowl.

  6. Sprinkle tomato slices with garlic powder, oregano, and black pepper to taste. Layer ½ of the tomato slices, ½ of the cheese mixture, and ½ of the basil. Repeat layers. Top with halved grape tomatoes.

  7. In a small bowl combine the remaining ¼ cup cheddar cheese, ½ cup of mozzarella cheese, and ¼ cup of mayonnaise.

  8. Pour over grape tomato mixture.

  9. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F and bake uncovered for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool before serving.
