Ingredients

  • 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate, squares
  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • ½ cup frozen whipped topping, thawed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. In a double boiler, melt chocolate and butter or margarine.

  3. Combine sugar and corn syrup in a medium saucepan.

  4. Bring the sugar and corn syrup mixture to a rapid boil for 2 minutes.

  5. Add chocolate mixture, stirring well.
  6. Place eggs in a medium bowl.
  7. While whisking constantly, pour chocolate mixture over eggs.
  8. Whisk in vanilla extract, then stir in pecans.
  9. Pour mixture into pie shell.
  10. Bake in preheated oven for 45-50 minutes.
  11. Cool before serving.
  12. Top each slice with a spoonful of whipped topping and chocolate shavings.
