  • 2 lbs pork belly
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp Chinese cooking wine
  • 1 tsp five-spice powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt


  1. Score the skin of the pork belly with a sharp knife.

  2. Mix together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, Chinese cooking wine, five-spice powder, garlic powder, and salt in a bowl.

  3. Rub the mixture all over the pork belly, making sure to get it into the scores on the skin.

  4. Place the pork belly on a wire rack over a baking tray.

  5. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

  6. Roast the pork belly in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 375°F (190°C) and continue roasting for another hour.

  7. Remove the pork belly from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

  8. Serve the Chinese roast pork with steamed rice and your favorite vegetables.
