How To Make Tender Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken

Enjoy some melt in your mouth goodness with this slow-cooked bbq chicken. This dish has the sweet and tangy flavor of homemade barbecue sauce.

Ingredients

  • 3lbsboneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1cupketchup
  • â…“cupmolasses
  • â…“cupbrown sugar
  • 3tbspcider vinegar
  • 1tbspworcestershire sauce
  • 1tsppaprika,smoked
  • 1tspchili powder
  • 1tsponion powder
  • ½tspsalt
  • 2tspliquid smoke
  • 2tbspwater
  • 1tbspcornstarch

Instructions

  1. Add the chicken to the bottom of the slow cooker.  In a medium sized bowl, whisk together the ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, chili powder, onion powder, salt and liquid smoke.  

  2. Pour the sauce on top of the chicken and cook on Low for 4 to 6 hours or High for 3 to 4 until chicken is tender enough to shred.  Shred the chicken and mix water with cornstarch.  Add to the bbq sauce and let the sauce thicken up for about 30 more minutes.
