How To Make Slow Cooker Beef Carnitas Tacos

Flank steak is seasoned with a medley of spices and then slow-cooked for hours with chili and bell peppers to make these irresistible carnitas tacos.

Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 8 hours
Total: 8 hours 10 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2lbsFlank Steak
  • 1yellow onion,chopped
  • 1green bell pepper,chopped
  • 1red bell pepper,chopped
  • 1jalapeno,seeded, chopped

For Spice Rub:

  • 2tspchili powder
  • 1tspcumin
  • ¼tsponion powder
  • ¼tspgarlic
  • ¼tspcayenne pepper
  • 1tspsalt
  • ½tspblack pepper

For Serving:

  • corn tortillas
  • avocado slices
  • cilantro
  • favorite salsa
  • limes

Instructions

  1. Mix together all spices in a small bowl. Rub the spices all over the flank steak. Place the steak at the bottom of a crock pot.

  2. Cover the steak with the chopped onions, bell peppers and jalapeno pepper. Turn heat on Low and cook for 8 hours.

  3. After 8 hours, remove meat from crock pot and shred with a fork. It should be incredibly easy to shred.

  4. To serve, heat corn tortillas in a skillet on the stove. Spoon some carnitas on a tortilla then top with salsa, avocado, cilantro and a squeeze of lime.
