  • baguette, (18 to 24 1-inch slices)
  • olive oil, or vegetable oil to brush on bread
  • 2 lb Italian-style meatballs, cooked and frozen
  • 1 lb onions, frozen, chopped, thawed, and drained
  • 1 ½ cups pasta sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded


  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Brush 1 side of each bread slice with oil.

  3. Line the bottom and side of a casserole dish with bread, oil side up. Slightly overlap the slices.

  4. Bake for 5 to 10 minutes or until edges are light golden brown.
