New Orleans Style BBQ Shrimp Recipe

How To Make New Orleans Style BBQ Shrimp

This BBQ shrimp recipe is Cajun-style cooking at its finest. It has a Worcestershire-infused butter sauce that gives it a pleasant kick.

  • 1tsppaprika
  • 1tspancho chili powder
  • 1tspground cumin
  • 1tspsugar
  • ¾tspsalt
  • 2lbsextra large,or jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined, thawed if frozen
  • 5tbspunsalted butter
  • 3largecloves garlic,minced
  • 2tbspWorcestershire sauce
  • 1tbspFresh Lemon Juice
  • 2tbspwater
  • 3scallions,white and green parts, thinly sliced


  1. Mix the paprika, ancho chili powder, cumin, sugar and salt together in a large bowl. Add the shrimp to the spices and toss to coat evenly. Set aside.

  2. Melt the butter over medium heat in a 12-inch skillet. Add the garlic and cook, stirring with a wooden spoon. Do not brown.

  3. Add the shrimp and continue cooking over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the shrimp are almost cooked but still opaque in spots.

  4. Add the Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and water and cook until shrimp are done. Scatter scallions over top and serve.
