How To Make White Sheet Cake

You’ll definitely be able to feed a lot with this white sheet cake recipe. The tender cake and smooth icing are flavored subtly with almond.

For Cake:

  • 1cupbutter
  • 1cupwater
  • 2cupsflour
  • 1tspbaking soda
  • 1tspsalt
  • 2cupssugar
  • 2eggs,beaten
  • ½cupsour cream
  • ½tspalmond extract

For Frosting:

  • ½cupbutter
  • ¼cupmilk
  • cupspowdered sugar
  • ½tspalmond extract
  • ½cupwalnuts,chopped, optional



    1. Bring 1 cup butter and 1 cup water to a boil in a saucepan.

    2. Remove from heat and whisk in flour, baking soda, salt, sugar, eggs, sour cream and almond extract until smooth.

    3. Pour into a greased 11×15-inch baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees F for 20 to 22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack for 20 minutes.

    4. While cake is cooling, make frosting.

    5. Combine butter and milk in a saucepan; cook over low heat until butter melts. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

    6. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and almond extract; beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until spreading consistency. Stir in walnuts (optional).

    7. Spread frosting on top of cake.
