  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.

  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.

  5. Fold in the poppy seeds until well incorporated.

  6. Transfer the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
