Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch baking dish.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, molasses, hot water, and brown sugar until well combined.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and salt.

  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well after each addition until a smooth batter forms.

  5. Pour the batter into the greased baking dish and smooth the top.

  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. Allow the cake to cool in the dish for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  8. Serve slices of the Molasses Cake on dessert plates and enjoy!
