How To Make Tres Leches Cake

Indulge yourself with our moist tres leches cake after a big meal! It’s topped with a caramel-like cream for a sweeter treat.

Total: 4 hours 50 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • butter yellow cake mix1 package
  • 3large eggs
  • cupmilk
  • 1tspvanilla extract
  • 1tspcinnamon

For Topping:

  • 14ozsweetened condensed milk1 can
  • 12ozevaporated milk1 can
  • 1cupheavy whipping cream

For Whipped Cream:

  • 1cupheavy whipping cream
  • 3tbspconfectioners’ sugar
  • 1tspvanilla extract

For Garnish (Optional):

  • berries

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Grease a 9 x 13-inch baking pan with cooking spray.

  3. Combine the cake mix, eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl.

  4. Beat with a hand mixer to combine until well incorporated.

  5. Pour into prepared pan.

  6. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

  7. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 20 minutes.

Topping:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy cream together.

  2. Whisk until combined.

  3. Use a chopstick or skewer, and generously poke holes on top of the warm cake.

  4. Pour the milk mixture slowly over the cake, and let the mixture absorb and fill the holes.

  5. Refrigerate, covered, for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Whipped Cream:

  1. Add the cream, confectioner’s sugar, and vanilla in a bowl, then beat until it begins to thicken.

  2. Continue to beat until soft peaks form.

  3. Spread the cream over the cake.

  4. Serve with sliced strawberries, and enjoy!
