  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, diced
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter.

  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until well combined.

  6. Stir in the vanilla extract, diced strawberries, and poppy seeds.

  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

  8. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  9. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  10. Serve the Strawberry & Poppy Seed Cake as is or dust with powdered sugar before serving.
