
How To Make Southern Praline Pecan Cake

Ingredients
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for praline topping)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter (for praline topping)
- 2 tbsp milk (for praline topping)
Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually mix in the flour mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the flour mixture.

Fold in the chopped pecans.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

While the cake is baking, prepare the praline topping. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the powdered sugar and milk until well combined. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and poke holes all over the top with a fork or toothpick.

Pour the warm praline topping over the cake, spreading it evenly.

Allow the cake to cool completely before serving.
