How To Make Jewish Apple Cake

This Jewish apple cake has layers of orange juice-flavored batter and sliced apples, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, for a dense sweet treat.

For Cake:

  • 3cupsall-purpose flour
  • ½tspsalt
  • tspbaking powder
  • 2cupswhite sugar
  • 1cupvegetable oil
  • 4eggs,beaten
  • ¼cuporange juice
  • 2tspvanilla extract
  • 3apples,peeled, cored, sliced

For Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture:

  • 2tspground cinnamon
  • 5tspwhite sugar

Instructions

Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture:

  1. Combine the ground cinnamon and 5 teaspoons of the sugar. Set aside.

Cake:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour one 10-inch tube pan

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder and 2 cups of sugar. Stir in the vegetable oil, beaten eggs, orange juice and vanilla. Mix well.

  3. Pour ½ of the batter into the prepared pan. Top with ½ of the sliced apples and sprinkle with ½ of the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Pour the remaining batter over the top and layer the remaining sliced apples and cinnamon sugar.

  4. Bake at 350 degrees F for 70 to 90 minutes.

  5. Serve and enjoy.
