Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a round cake pan.
In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and brown sugar until well combined. Pour the mixture into the bottom of the greased cake pan.
Slice the bananas into rounds and arrange them on top of the butter and sugar mixture in the cake pan.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In another bowl, mix the milk, vanilla extract, and egg. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Pour the batter over the bananas in the cake pan, spreading it evenly.
Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, carefully invert the cake onto a serving plate.
