How To Make Dried Apple Stack Cake

Spiced cake mix is packed with apples, coconuts, tangy currants, and crisp pecans to create this moist stack cake! Whip this up in just under 1 hour.

  • 18.25ozspice cake mix,(1 package)
  • 1cupdried apples
  • 1cuppecans,chopped
  • ½cupcoconut,shredded or flaked
  • cupcurrants
  • 3eggs
  • ¼cupbrown sugar
  • 1tspvanilla extract
  • ½cupbutter
  • 2cupsapple butter


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease bottoms of two 9-inch round layer cake pans.

  2. In a large bowl, mix the spice cake mix, dried apples, pecans, coconut, currants, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla extract and butter. Pour the mixture into the cake pans.

  3. Bake in the oven 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.

  4. Split each cake layer into four sections. Spread apple butter between the sections and reassemble layers.

  5. Serve and enjoy!
