How To Make Deep South Eggnog Cake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and nutmeg.
In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Mix in the eggnog and vanilla extract until well combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
In the meantime, prepare the frosting by whipping the heavy cream, powdered sugar, nutmeg, and vanilla extract together until stiff peaks form.
Once the cake has cooled, spread the frosting evenly over the top and sides of the cake.
