Rich and buttery pound cake with added nuts and dates.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound butter
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 ounce lemon extract
  • 4 cup all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1 pound dates, chopped
  • 4 cup pecans , finely chopped
  • 4 cup walnuts, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Cream butter well.
  2. Add sugar and beat until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Add flavoring. Sprinkle 1 cup of the flour over nuts and dates.

  5. Add remaining 3 cups of flour to creamed mixture.

  6. Add dates and nuts.
  7. Mix well and spoon into well greased 10-inch tube pan.
  8. Bake at 300 degrees F for 2 hours.

  9. Remove from oven and turn upside down for a few minutes.
