  • 10tbspbutter,softened
  • cupswhite sugar
  • 4eggs
  • cupsour cream
  • 1tspvanilla extract
  • 2tbsporange zest,grated
  • 2cupsall-purpose flour
  • cupunsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼tspbaking soda
  • ¼tspsalt
  • ½cupalmonds,chopped

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, cream the butter with sugar. Beat in the eggs, then the sour cream, vanilla, and orange rind.

  2. In another bowl, stir together the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Beat into the creamed mixture just until incorporated, and then stir in the almonds.

  3. Turn the batter into a greased and floured tube pan.

  4. Bake in a 350 degrees F oven for 1 hour, or until it tests done with a toothpick. Let cool on a rack.
