- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the flour mixture.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
