How To Make Apple Coffee Cake

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

Gently fold in the diced apple and walnuts (if using).

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly.

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the top of the batter.

Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
