How To Make Steel Cut Oatmeal

Have a hearty breakfast with these steel-cut oatmeal made sweet and fruity with blueberries and cinnamon.

Ingredients

  • tbsp butter
  • 1 cup steel cut oats
  • 3 cups water, boiling
  • 1 cup milk

Topping Ideas

  • cinnamon
  • brown sugar
  • blueberries
  • raisins
  • pancake syrup

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in medium saucepan.
  2. Stir in steel cut oats.
  3. Cook until oats give off a nutty toasty appearance and scent, about 3 minutes.
  4. Add hot water to hot oats.
  5. Cover and let cook for 30 minutes.
  6. Do not stir.
  7. When done, open the cover and stir in milk.
  8. Stir until the mixture reaches a creamy consistency.
  9. Serve with desired toppings such as blueberries, raisins, brown sugar, cinnamon or pancake syrup.
