How To Make Homemade Bircher Muesli

Keep your energy level in check during the holidays with a bowl of Bircher muesli. It’s loaded with apples, oats, raisins, and nuts for a healthy breakfast.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • cupold-fashioned oats
  • 1tbspraisinsor dried cranberries or cherries
  • ¼tspcinnamonground
  • 1tbspalmond butteror peanut butter
  • 2tbsphomemade applesauceor store-bought applesauce
  • cupmilk of choice
  • 1Granny Smith appleor Honeycrisp apple, medium, preferably organic
  • pecanschopped
  • drizzle of honeyor maple syrup, if desired

Instructions

  1. In a 14-ounce jar or bowl, combine the oats, raisins, cinnamon, nut butter, and applesauce. Stir to combine. Then add the milk and stir to combine.

  2. Grate half of the apple, then stir the grated apple into the oatmeal.

  3. Place the lid on the jar and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 5 days.

  4. When you’re ready to serve, chop the remaining ½ apple into matchsticks.

  5. Top the oatmeal with the fresh apple, a splash of milk, and/or a drizzle of honey. Enjoy chilled.
