Have a warm and filling breakfast with this steel-cut oats recipe. Oats are slow-cooked with apples, cinnamon, and sugar for a sweet, mildly-spiced meal.

  • 2cupswater
  • 1cupmilk
  • 1cupsteel-cut oats
  • 1applepeeled, cored, and chopped
  • 2tbspbrown sugar
  • tbspbuttercut into 6 pieces
  • ½tspground cinnamon
  • ¼tspsalt


  1. Combine water, milk, oats, apple, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, and salt in a slow cooker; mix well.

  2. Cook oatmeal on Low for 1 hour.

  3. Reduce heat to Simmer or Warm and cook for 7 to 8 hours.
