How To Make Irish Beef Stew with Guinness® Beer

St. Paddy’s day is coming and there is nothing better to serve than authentic Irish beef stew with the rich, slightly bitter taste from Guinness beer.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2tbspolive oil
  • 1onionchopped
  • 3clovesgarlicminced
  • 1tspsalt
  • ½tspground black pepper
  • 2lbbeef stew meatcubed
  • 3cupsGuinness® stout beer
  • 2potatoespeeled and sliced
  • 2potatoespeeled and quartered
  • salt and ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Stir in the onion, garlic, salt, and pepper.

  2. Cook and stir until the onion has softened and turned translucent, about 5 minutes.

  3. Stir in the beef, beer, sliced potatoes, and quartered potatoes. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until the beef is tender, about 2 hours.

  4. Season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.
