How To Make Stewed Prunes

Take a chewy bite of these stewed prunes and enjoy a burst of flavors! This 4-ingredient dish makes a syrupy treat that's good for your tummy.

Prep: 25 mins
Refrigerate: 1 hr
Cook: 15 mins
Total: 1 hr 40 mins
Serves:

Ingredients

  • 20 pitted prunes
  • cups water
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Place the prunes in a small saucepan.
  2. Add the water, vanilla, and cinnamon. Gently stir.

  3. Bring to a boil, about 5 minutes. Gently stir again, then lower the heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes, until the prunes are soft and swimming in syrup.

  4. Transfer the stewed prunes to a heat-proof glass storage container. Cool to room temperature, about 15 minutes, then cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. This allows the syrup to thicken and flavors to develop.

  5. Serve alone as dessert or spoon on top of plain Greek yogurt. Enjoy!
