How To Make Poached Chicken

This poached chicken recipe is very easy to make and it’s flavorful and tender! Top with herbs for additional flavor and serve it with rice.

  • 2boneless chicken breasts
  • 1tsppeppercorn
  • 1clovegarlic
  • 2largeonion slices
  • 1sprig each of fresh herbs
  • 1bay leaf
  • chicken broth


  1. Place chicken, herbs, peppercorn, garlic, onion and bay leaf in a shallow pan.

  2. Pour in enough broth to cover chicken about ½ way.

  3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 5 minutes.

  4. Turn off heat, cover and allow to rest for 15 minutes.

  5. Slice or shred chicken and reserve broth for use in recipes or to serve with chicken.
