How To Make Boil Chicken

Here’s how to perfectly boil chicken that is tender and juicy, and make an incredibly flavorful chicken broth that makes a good addition to a lot of dishes.

Ingredients

  • 4lbschicke,(1 whole)
  • piecesonion,divided
  • 3carrots,include tops
  • 2stalkscelery,include tops
  • 2sprigsthyme,each fresh rosemary, parsley, sage or any combination
  • 3sprigsfresh parsley
  • 2bay leaves
  • 1tbsppeppercorns
  • 2tspsalt
  • enough water to cover,this will depend on the size pot

Instructions

  1. Cut 1 onion, carrots, and celery into quarters (include the tops of the carrots and celery).

  2. Place the ½ onion into the cavity of the chicken.

  3. Place chicken in pot and add vegetables, fresh herbs, bay leaves, peppercorns and salt. Cover with water.

  4. Cover pot and bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, turn the heat down and simmer partially covered for about 1½ to 2 hours.

  5. Remove chicken, allow to cool then remove meat from bones.

  6. Strain and reserve broth.
