How To Make Plum Pudding Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup shredded suet
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup currants
- 1/4 cup chopped almonds
- 1/4 cup grated carrot
- 1/4 cup grated apple
- 1/4 cup grated pear
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tbsp brandy (optional)
- 1 tbsp butter, melted
Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, breadcrumbs, suet, brown sugar, raisins, currants, almonds, grated carrot, grated apple, grated pear, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the beaten eggs, milk, and brandy (if using).

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix well to form a sticky batter.

Grease a heatproof bowl with the melted butter and spoon the batter into it, pressing it down lightly.

Cover the bowl tightly with a double layer of greased parchment paper or aluminum foil.

Place the bowl in a large saucepan and fill the pan with enough boiling water to reach halfway up the side of the bowl.

Cover the saucepan with a lid and steam the pudding on low heat for 2 hours, checking occasionally to ensure the water hasn’t evaporated completely.

Carefully remove the bowl from the saucepan and let it cool for a few minutes.

Invert the pudding onto a serving plate and remove the parchment paper or foil.

Serve the plum pudding warm, drizzled with custard or brandy sauce, and enjoy!
