Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 45 minutes
Total: 60 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of day-old bread, cubed
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup of raisins (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the bread, milk, sugar, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and raisins (if using). Mix well to ensure all the bread is coated.

  3. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes, allowing the bread to soak up the liquid.

  4. Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish and spread it evenly.

  5. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the pudding is set.

  6. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.

  7. Optional: Dust with powdered sugar before serving for a sweet finishing touch.

  8. Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
