Ingredients

  • 8 slices of bread
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 4 tbsp of butter
  • 4 ripe figs, sliced
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.

  3. Spread butter on one side of each bread slice and arrange them in the baking dish, buttered side up.

  4. In a saucepan, heat the milk until warm. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract.

  5. Slowly pour the warm milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.

  6. Arrange the sliced figs on top of the bread slices in the baking dish.

  7. Pour the milk and egg mixture over the figs and bread, making sure to cover all the slices.

  8. Sprinkle the brown sugar on top.

  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the pudding is set and golden brown.

  10. Serve warm and enjoy!
