How To Make Homemade Mashed Potatoes

This is a classic homemade mashed potatoes recipe with a cheesy boost! An incredibly smooth and buttery mashed potatoes with a creamy consistency with the help of milk and a full-bodied flavor from garlic bread crumbs and Monterey Jack cheese.

Ingredients

  • 5 med. baking potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup garlic seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • salt and pepper , to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Place the potatoes into a saucepan, and fill with enough water to cover.
  3. Bring to a boil.
  4. Cook for 5-10 minutes, just until soft.
  5. Drain water, and mash potatoes.
  6. Beat in the butter, and about half of the milk using an electric mixer.
  7. Add more milk if needed to achieve the desired consistency of mashed potato.
  8. Season with salt and pepper.
  9. Spread potatoes evenly in a 9x13-inch baking dish, or desired casserole dish.
  10. Sprinkle the bread crumbs and cheese over the top.
  11. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until the cheese is melted and the top is browned.
  12. Serve immediately.
