Imagine a creamy and buttery mashed potato dish. Now, it’s possible by using a slow cooker to make the potatoes more tender and absorb the flavors.

  • 5lbpotatoes
  • 1cupchicken broth,or stock
  • 4garlic cloves,crushed
  • cupbutter
  • salt,to taste
  • cupsour cream
  • ½cuphot milk
  • ½cupparmesan cheese,optional
  • pepper,to taste


  1. Place the potatoes, broth, garlic, and butter into the slow cooker. Season with salt; mix together and cover with lid.

  2. Cook on high setting for 4 hours until very tender.

  3. Mash potatoes with a potato masher or electric beater. Stir the sour cream and milk through until well combined and creamy. Add the Parmesan cheese.

  4. Keep on low or warm setting until ready to serve.
