How To Make Mashed Sweet Potatoes Brulee

In this recipe, we are going to experience eating sweet potatoes as dessert. The caramelized sugar on top of this sweet potato brulee adds a nice texture.

Total: 45 minutes



  • lbssweet potatoespeeled and boiled until soft
  • ¾cupmilk
  • 3tbspwhipped buttersoftened
  • ½tspkosher salt
  • ¼tspground cinnamon
  • tspground nutmeg
  • ½cupunpacked light brown sugar


  1. Combine sweet potatoes with milk, butter, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large bowl and mash or puree until smooth.

  2. Spoon into a 9 x 9-inch or 11 x 7-inch baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees F covered until heated through for about 20 minutes.

  3. Preheat the broiler.

  4. Sprinkle 1/2 cup brown sugar evenly over top.

  5. Broil about 6 inches from the flame until the sugar melts and becomes caramelized for about 2 to 3 minutes.

  6. Let it stand until the melted sugar hardens.

Recipe Notes


Add more time if the mixture was refrigerated. Make sure that the center will the warm.
