How To Make Turkey Picadillo

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  2. Add onion and garlic and sauté until softened.

  3. Add ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.

  4. Stir in bell pepper, cumin, chili powder, and oregano.

  5. Cook for another 2 minutes.

  6. Add diced tomatoes with their juices and frozen peas.

  7. Reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, until flavors are well combined and turkey is cooked through.

  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  9. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
