How To Make Roasted Duck Recipe

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 whole duck, about 4-5 pounds
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 sprigs of rosemary
  • 2 sprigs of thyme
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. Rinse the duck inside and out, then pat dry with paper towels.

  3. In a small bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, dried thyme, and garlic powder.

  4. Rub the spice mixture all over the duck, inside and out.

  5. Stuff the cavity of the duck with the quartered onion, minced garlic, and fresh herbs.

  6. Truss the duck by tying the legs together with kitchen twine.

  7. Place the duck on a rack in a roasting pan.

  8. Drizzle olive oil over the duck.

  9. Roast the duck in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C).

  10. Continue roasting for about 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) when measured with a meat thermometer.

  11. Remove the duck from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before carving.

  12. Serve the roasted duck with your choice of side dishes.
