Ingredients

  • 4 lbs prime rib roast
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).

  2. Rub the prime rib roast with olive oil, then season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, thyme, and rosemary.

  3. Place the roast on a rack in a roasting pan, fat side up.

  4. Roast in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.

  5. Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue cooking for about 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (135°F for medium-rare).

  6. Remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing.

  7. Slice the prime rib and serve.
